Swim England appoints Sara Todd as new Member Nominated Director
1 May 2025Swim England is pleased to announce the appointment of Sara Todd as its new Member Nominated Director to the Swim England Board.
Sara brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in global procurement, having worked across the automotive, pharmaceutical, and FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) sectors. A skilled executive coach, she has driven cultural change, organisational transformation, and successful collaboration with external partners throughout her career.
Her connection to swimming is a deeply personal one. While her daughters were involved in the sport – one at a competitive level – Sara served as Chair of their local club and qualified as an official. Although her professional commitments limited her involvement at the time, retirement from full-time work in 2023 provided the perfect opportunity to give back to the sport that had given her family so much.
“I’ve always been passionate about problem-solving, driving change, and developing people,” said Sara. “Now I have the chance to apply that experience to support the swimming community.”
Sara already plays a vital role within the sport’s governance, currently serving as Chair of the Swim England South East Regional Board and as one of three nominated Swim England Directors on the Aquatics GB Board. Her appointment to the Swim England Board completes a powerful triad of involvement at regional, national, and elite levels.
“These roles allow me to connect the full pathway of our sport, from grassroots through to elite performance,” she added. “By understanding the needs and challenges at every level, I can help shape a more cohesive and responsive system.”
As a Member Nominated Director, Sara is passionate about representing the voice of the membership.
“Members are at the heart of this organisation. We need to keep things simple, impactful, and ensure there’s genuine two-way communication. It’s important our members feel connected and heard. I want to stay close to what’s happening on the ground.”
Looking ahead, Sara is determined to contribute to Swim England’s ongoing evolution.
“The organisation is at a pivotal moment following the Listening Report and the launch of the new One Swim England strategy. I’m ready to support this transformation, helping drive the changes that will make a lasting difference for our members and the future of aquatics in England.”
Andy Salmon, Swim England CEO said: “Sara brings a fantastic combination of strategic insight and deep grassroots experience. Her leadership across regional, national, and international roles will be invaluable as we deliver our transformation agenda. We’re delighted to have her on the Board.”
