Tributes paid to Water Babies chief executive Steve Franks

Swim England News

Swim England would like to pay tribute to Water Babies CEO and Managing Director Steve Franks, who has died after battling coronavirus.

Steve began his work with Water Babies in 2009 and as a campaigner in the sector, he has worked closely with Swim England over the years to develop baby and pre-school aquatic teaching.

Working in partnership with Swim England and other organisations, he played a key role in helping to develop the British Standards Institute Code of Practice for the safe delivery of baby swimming.

His passion towards his work helped Water Babies to achieve an array of success and awards, notably the British Franchise Association’s ‘Franchisor of the Year’ gold award in 2016.

Swim England chief executive Jane Nickerson, described Steve as a ‘good friend’ as well as a colleague.

Jane said: “I am saddened to hear of the passing of Steve Franks who was a good friend as well as a colleague.

“His work for baby swimming will live on and my deepest sympathy goes to his family and all at Water Babies.”

“Everyone at Swim England passes on their condolences to Steve’s family and friends.”
