
Swim England appoints NSPCC to lead historical case review
13 October 2025Swim England is pleased to announce that the NSPCC has been appointed to conduct the independent desktop review of historical safeguarding cases referred to or handled by Swim England between January 2003 and December 2022.
The NSPCC is the leading children’s charity in the UK, with a mission to prevent child abuse. They are experts in safeguarding, including in sport, with a recognition of the vital social and development role that sport plays for everyone.
This appointment follows a robust and thorough selection process, with seven organisations submitting detailed expressions of interest, three of which were shortlisted for interview. Swim England were impressed by the NSPCC’s significant experience and expertise in providing robust, high-quality safeguarding case reviews both within and outside of sport.
The review is scheduled to commence by the end of October 2025, with completion anticipated by the end of March 2026.
This appointment comes after Swim England announced earlier in 2025 that they would conduct this review into historical cases.
Further updates will be provided once the review has taken place.
