Swim England and Everyone Active sign new five-year partnership to continue their mission to get England swimming again

Swim England and the Institute of Swimming has announced it has signed a new five-year partnership with Everyone Active, the biggest provider of the Learn to Swim programme in England.

Building on its existing three-year partnership, the new agreement reinforces the shared commitment to increasing participation and improving access to Swim England’s industry leading high-quality aquatic programmes across the country.

The aim will be to continue inspiring people of all ages and abilities to learn to swim, while strengthening the delivery and sustainability of the aquatic provision across Everyone Active’s 152 sites – utilising all of Swim England and the Institute of Swimming’s business services.

Along with this, Everyone Active, who has nearly 200,000 children on its Learn to Swim programme and has employed over 4,000 swimming teachers nationwide, will also look to continue developing its aquatic workforce in collaboration with Institute of Swimming, the largest provider of Aquatics coaching and teaching training in England. This move will ensure prospective and existing teachers are equipped with the very best skills and training needed to deliver engaging, high-quality lessons.

“This partnership is an important milestone in our relationship with Swim England and reflects our shared commitment to making swimming more accessible. By working closely with Swim England, we will continue to engage local communities, inspire greater participation in aquatic activity, support schools and families, and ensure our facilities remain welcoming environments for all,” says Jacqui Tillman, Aquatics and Wellbeing Director when discussing the renewed partnership.

The announcement comes as Everyone Active presented their annual Sport Teacher of the Year award at its Edenbridge site. The annual award celebrates outstanding swimming teachers working across its sites, highlighting the vital role teachers play in shaping positive aquatic experiences and recognising the exceptional dedication and impact in teaching swimming and supporting participation at grassroots level.

Former competitive swimmer, Michael Gunning, presented the award to Laura Webster who was recognised for her commitment to delivering swimming lessons and supporting the wider aquatic team. Alongside her teaching responsibilities, Laura regularly contributes to workforce development initiatives, school swimming sessions and centre events, helping to strengthen aquatic provision at her site.

Rebecca Cox, Business Engagement Director at Swim England and Managing  Director at the Institute of Swimming, reflects on the new five-year partnership saying: “This new five-year partnership marks an exciting moment in our relationship with Everyone Active. By focusing on key areas such as Learn to Swim, workforce development, health and wellbeing, and school swimming, we are building a strong foundation to help more people experience the benefits of swimming.”

The latest partnership reflects a shared ambition to support communities nationwide, ensuring swimming remains accessible, inclusive, and central to improving both physical and mental wellbeing.
