Swim England looking for volunteers to help shape the future of aquatics
11 March 2025Following the launch of the ‘One Swim England’ strategy, Swim England is looking for two new members to join its Sport Operations Committee (SOC).
The committee, which reports straight to the Swim England Board, plays a key role in setting the direction for all aquatic sports from learn to swim through to the elite programmes.
The voluntary committee uses its collective experiences and relationships to support sport development, as well as providing their guidance and input into plans to deliver the One Swim England strategy.
Having recently reviewed the terms of reference for the SOC, two new vacancies have been created as the national governing body looks to be more representative of the community.
It is currently comprised of seven volunteer members and meets eight times a year, usually virtually, with one ‘in person’ meeting in Loughborough.
Swim England are looking to hear from people who are:
- A Swim England Member.
- Active at club level.
- Have an open mind, willing to listen and consider the views and needs of others, whilst constructively challenging the status quo.
- Show a commitment to promoting equality and diversity.
- Be able to commit to attending meetings and being an active member of the committee as well as being an active representative on a Leadership Group.
Having evaluated the current members of the SOC, Swim England are particularly interested in hearing from members who also meet the following:
- Previous experience of being involved in a committee structure.
- Active in the water polo, coaching or masters swimming communities.
Any previous experience or knowledge of operating in a voluntary capacity at a strategic level would also be advantageous.

“Volunteers are at the heart of the Swim England family and their contribution is invaluable.
“The successful candidates will have an overall knowledge of aquatic sports and the club environment. They will also have lived experience, which they can draw on to support the SOC in making robust decisions.
