Banner advertising on swimming.org

The swimming.org network of sites attracts almost 3 million visitors per year. It offers a unique opportunity reach a varied audience of swimmers and people engaged in aquatic sport through its different areas, known as ‘hubs’.

Each hub can help you to target a different type of potential customer by focusing your campaign directly towards its visitors. Whether you’re trying to reach out to families, parents with children learning to swim, club swimmers or teachers and coaches, each hub offers something different. Prices start from just £22.50 + VAT per month and our minimum order value is just £75 + VAT.

Options

Each site has its own combination of banner advertising spaces and/or advertorial content designed to work best for that site. The options available will be explained below.

Banner advertising

Most pages on our website carry more than one ad space. allowing you to choose both your audience and which position or size space works best for your campaign and budget. Most spaces can be booked by a single advertiser or as a shared space between several advertisers.  The page views shown for a site are average page views per month based on the whole space. A share of a space would expect to attract a proportion of views. If you would like to have exclusivity for a chosen audience or target your key audience via multiple sites, that’s no problem. Contact us if you would like to discuss a package.

Advertorial
If you would prefer to take a content-based approach rather than place banner advertisements, you might consider advertorial. Most hubs can carry advertorial. Our advertorial package typically includes a page of content on your chosen site plus social media promotion of the campaign. Advertorial is priced per month but you may choose how long you wish to run your campaign for and this can be priced accordingly. Swim England hub

This is our B2B hub which features all of our brand and industry news and features as well as being home to sections serving clubs, teachers, operators and educators with key information that they require.

Advertise across the whole hub or choose to target one or more of these specific audiences.

This website carries three sizes of advertisement:

  • Header and footer spaces (as the names suggest, at the top and bottom of the page).
  • MPU space situated in the side bar of all pages.
  • In-page leaderboard space situated within the content of news stories.

Banner sizes and placement:

Header and Footer leader board spaces: these are 728 x 90 pixel banners, positioned at the top and bottom of the page on desktop view. On mobile devices, a 300 x 250 pixel banner will show. (You will be asked to provide both sizes when booking this option).

MPU spaces: a 300 x 250 pixel banner, usually situated within the right-hand side bar. Most hubs feature two MPU spaces.

In-page spaces (introduced in 2020): a 320 x 250 pixel banner, situated within content, eg news stories, Articles of more than 200 words may contain more than one banner ad.

Artwork/Creatives:

Banner artwork should be provided as a JPEG or GIF, at the specified size, along with details of the link you wish to use.

Note: If you use an animated GIF, impressions and click through rates will be tracked as one image.

Guidelines for product imagery/creatives
Due to category exclusivity agreements we have in place with our partners, some restrictions apply to products that may be advertised and the imagery and branding used within advertising placed on swimming.org.Advertisements may be placed for any products within the permitted product list (see below) and for all partner-branded products.Products on the excluded product list (see below) may be promoted by retailers, providing any product images are unbranded or the advertisement shows a composite image of multiple brands with equal presence and discreet logos. For example, a banner may show a retailer’s company name and logo and link through to an online shop.
Permitted product list
Wearable fitness technology, drinking bottles, products and services (watches, stopwatches, clocks, timepieces, jewellery and time keeping equipment).
Excluded product list
Active competition swimwear; swim accessories (goggles and swim caps); beachwear inc leisure swimwear; aerobic fitness wear; sports underwear; sport lifestyle wear (tracksuits, t-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, trousers and pool footwear); sport caps, hats; sport socks; sport bags; training aids including paddles and floats; backstroke flags; towels/bath robes/chamois; and wetsuits.

How to book

  1. Choose your preferred package
  2. Complete our booking form with details of your preferred package.
  3. We will check availability and confirm the booking details back to you and arrange payment.
  4. Once confirmed, send your artwork to us by the relevant deadline.

Payment

Payment can be made in one of two ways:

  • New customers – payment is made online, with a debit or credit or debit card. We use PayPal invoicing which does not require a PayPal account. When your booking is confirmed, we will provide details how to pay. If you would like to apply for a customer account for future bookings, you can pay for your first booking and request a credit application form.
  • Existing account customers – if you already have a credit account for advertising with Swim England Trading Limited*, we’ll be able to process your booking and send you an invoice. In this instance, payment terms are 30 days.

*Please note: This is separate to any account you may have with The Institute of Swimming. If you have an account with one of these companies, please let us know.
