Home Nations Coaching Conference returns for 2023

Swim England, Scottish Swimming and Swim Wales, supported by British Swimming have joined forces to host the Home Nations Coaching Conference next month.

The two-day conference will take place from 24-25 November at the Leonardo Hotel at East Midlands Airport focussing on the theme of ‘Developing Excellence in Coaching’.

The conference is aimed at head and assistant coaches of clubs who are coaching athletes to British Championships and British Summer Meet level or operating in the performance development world.

A wide range of speakers from the across the nation will be attending the event, which will give coaches who work within each of the home nations the opportunity to share ideas ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Amongst the speakers from England will be Joe Stanford from Nova Centurion Swimming Club – who will run a workshop on the role of personality in coach/athlete relationships – and Northampton Swimming Clubs’ Andy Sharp, who will present alongside British Para-Swimming’s Jacquie Marshall to speak about their journey with six time world and two-time Paralympic champion Maisie Summers-Newton.

They will present two of the 12 workshops across the two days with experts from across each of the home nations and British Swimming attending to share their knowledge to the wider coaching community.

UK Sport, UK Coaching and Changing Minds UK will also present at the event to share their tools and knowledge to support coaches and their athletes.

Included in the conference fee will be a three-course meal on the Friday evening that will provide a great opportunity to connect with coaches from across Great Britain.
