Price of Swim England’s Learn to Swim Awards set to rise from April

Swim England’s Learn to Swim Awards are to increase in price from 1 April 2023.

Standard Learn to Swim Awards, which include a cloth badge and a certificate, are to rise by eight pence from £2.10 to £2.18.

The four per cent increase is significantly below the current Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate of 9.2 per cent.

Income from the sale of Learn to Swim Awards is vital to Swim England and helps fund key areas of its work.

This includes:

  • Ensuring the Swim England Learn to Swim programme syllabus remains world-leading, providing children and adults with the best framework to learn a vital life skill.
  • Offering free Learn to Swim Health Checks for swim schools and swimming lesson providers in a bid to identify areas for growth within learn to swim programmes
  • Introducing a host of new features onto the free Swim England My Learn to Swim app
  • Providing free Learn to Swim flash cards which are available in three languages
  • Scrapping the £36 fee for schools and swimming lesson providers to join the School Swimming and Water Safety Charter meaning a host of digital resources are now available free of charge.

In addition, Swim England continues to lobby Government on the #SaveOurPools campaign to ensure there is more support for facilities struggling with bills in the energy crisis.

Proceeds are reinvested

Katie Towner, Swim England’s head of learn to swim, said: “As we are a charity, income from the Learn to Swim Awards is so vital to us and helps the organisation give the best possible services to our members, swim schools and learn to swim providers.

“All organisations are facing the impact of the cost of living crisis and we have done our very best to limit these increases on our customers.

“In addition, the increased range of free benefits available means it is now easier for swim schools and lesson providers to help spread key learn to swim messages and we are available to help support and grow their businesses.

“The Learn to Swim Awards are a key milestone in anyone’s swimming journey and they still offer incredible value for money, especially when you consider the proceeds are reinvested.”

Swim England Swim School members and SwimMark clubs will continue to receive a five per cent discount on their purchases, and all bulk-buying discount levels remain in place for those customers who purchase large volumes of Swim England Learn to Swim Awards

There’s also no change in postage and packing prices.
