A nation swimming

Swim England Board announced

Swim England News

As part of Swim England’s move to an incorporated organisation with charitable status, it has today announced the membership of its new Board.

The twelve members of the Board are made up of representatives from across the sport and physical activity sector, as well as those with backgrounds in legal, human resources and finance.

Chaired by Mike Farrar, the Board will meet around six times a year. This will ensure the charity is working to the highest standards for all those involved in swimming and aquatics.

Mike said: “I am delighted to announce our new Board. This is an exciting time for Swim England as we ensure our governance is aligned with the growing needs of our sport and members.

“Since joining Swim England in 2015 I have seen the organisation transition and become more focused on its key objective of getting a nation swimming and bringing with it the sporting success, community health improvement and personal sense of wellbeing that this creates.

“Our four-year plan is ambitious but we now have an incredibly capable and dedicated team of executives and non-executives leading it.”

Jane Nickerson, Swim England CEO, said: “Our aim is a nation swimming and our move to an incorporated charity with one Board focussed on strategically driving all our activities will be instrumental in our success.

“The Board represents a wide mix of knowledge and understanding about swimming and the wider issues around sport, governance and business. As Chairman, Mike continues to bring considerable expertise on swimming for health and wellbeing, as well as experience and knowledge of our strategic direction. I look forward to working together as we continue to implement our four-year strategy.”

The first meeting of the Board is scheduled for the end of March, with the new incorporated charity taking over the majority of business from the beginning of April 2018.

The current Swim England Group Board and Sport Governing Boards will be dissolved during 2018.
