TAGS and Out to Swim nominated for London Sports Awards

The London Sports Awards Shortlist announcement has been made and TAGS and Out to Swim have both been nominated.

The Sports Awards aim to celebrate grassroots physical activity and sport across London. This year they received hundreds of nominations across seven categories and swimming made it into the shortlist twice.

TAGS have made the shortlist for the Workforce Award. This aims to recognise the work of organisations and groups that have implement creative ways to engage with, develop and support sport’s workforce in London.

TAGS is a London based provider of body positive spaces for transgender and non-binary identified people.

They have groups around London and Birmingham and are hoping to expand over the coming years. In 2016, TAGS won the David Sparkes OBE Innovation Award at the ASA Aquatics Awards 2016.

Out to Swim have been shortlisted for the Club of the Year Award. This is designed to celebrate clubs that go the extra mile for their members and for London as a whole.

Out to Swim is an LGBT Masters Aquatics Club. Chairman of Out to Swim, Robert John, was names Volunteer of the Year at the ASA Aquatics Award 2016 for his dedication to swimming.

Out to Swim work to provide an inclusive and respectful environment for anyone to swim in regardless of age, gender, faith or any other grounds.

TAGS and Out to Swim – inclusive clubs

Jamie Hooper, Health and Wellbeing Manager, said: “I am so pleased to see both TAGS and Out to Swim shortlisted in the London Sport Awards this year.

“Both clubs are incredible pillars of LGBT and trans inclusion within swimming in London, and both clubs offer so much more than just training sessions.

“I can’t wait to see how they both get on on the night.”
