I have been actively involved in aquatic sport for a number of years. I began volunteering for my swimming club when I was fifteen, assisting non-swimmers in the learner pool. The following year I achieved my level 1 ASA Teachers Award and began coaching more advanced swimmers as a volunteer. I also took on the role of Press Officer with the club’s committee. I have since gained a further qualification and am now an experienced Level 2 swimming teacher.
I continued coaching and swimming when I went to Staffordshire University and joined the university swim team. In my second year of study I became Women’s Captain and in my final year was voted Chairman.
I graduated from Staffordshire in 2010 with a degree in Journalism and English. I am now a full-time swimming teacher and work all over the East Midlands. My job is incredibly rewarding and includes a great deal of variety.
My involvement with the Youth Forum has been so beneficial and has provided a number of fantastic opportunities. The highlight of my Youth Forum work has been delivering the key note speech as the ASA conference in October 2011.
