Membership Management System update June

We’re continuing to make good progress on Swim England’s new Membership Management System, which remains on track for a planned launch in early Autumn 2026.

The new platform is being designed to make managing membership simpler and more connected, bringing many of the services members, clubs and volunteers use regularly together in one place.

Over recent months we’ve been working closely with Sport:80 to test the system, gather feedback and make improvements. That work continues as we move through the next few testing phases ahead of launch. There’s still lots to do and challenges to overcome, as with any project of this size, and we’ll continue to update as we progress.

What will the new system do?

The new Membership Management System will support:

  • Individual and club membership management
  • Membership renewals
  • Club affiliation
  • Qualifications and credentials
  • Workshop and forum bookings
  • Compliance and safeguarding processes
  • Automated communications

The platform will also connect with services such as DBS processing, helping create a more joined-up experience for users.

What isn’t included?

The new system is intentionally focused on membership and administration services.

It won’t replace Swim England news and communications, how you access your member benefits, swimming rankings or event reporting and results services. These services will continue to be available through the channels members already use today.

Competition entries

One area we’ve spent a lot of time exploring is competition entry. Because each aquatic sport has very different requirements, we’ve taken the decision to introduce competition entries in phases, helping us deliver the right solution while keeping the wider project on track.

At launch, the system will support competition and event entries for Diving, Water Polo and Artistic Swimming (including Artistic Swimming Grading Days) through the Sport:80 event entry platform. Swimming and Masters event entries will follow as part of a later phase of development. We’ll continue to work with clubs, volunteers and event organisers as we develop those future phases and will share more information when plans are confirmed.

Preparing for launch

As part of the move to the new platform, there will be a planned period of downtime during the week before launch while final data migration and preparation work takes place.

We know clubs and members will want to plan ahead, so we’ll share more information on timings and how services will continue during this period well in advance. We anticipate this week will be in September, but we will be able to confirm this next month.

What’s next?

Our focus over the coming months remains on testing, data migration and developing the guidance and support materials that will help clubs and members get started with the new system.

We’ll continue to keep you updated as we move closer to launch and would like to thank everyone who has supported the project so far through testing, feedback and engagement.
