Learn to Swim and Institute of Swimming give free CPD tasters to teachers
19 February 2019For 2019, Learn to Swim has teamed up with Institute of Swimming to provide free workshops on the most popular professional development topics in the learn to swim world!
Using material and featuring tutors from Institute of Swimming’s qualification and CPD courses, the 1.5 hour workshop topics will include:
Workshop topics
Mental health for swimming teachers
A look at the importance of your mental health as a teacher, and the benefits swimming has on the mental health of your learners.
Lesson management
Organisation – teaching methods – behaviour management.
Maintaining momentum
How to keep your teaching effective through all Stages of the Learn to Swim Programme. There will be a particular focus on the ‘jump’ from Stage 3 to Stage 4 and how to ensure your learners’ progress doesn’t slow down.
Inclusivity and SEND
How to create and manage an inclusive learning environment.
Improving the strokes
Hints and tips on how to help learners improve their stroke technique.
Working with an assistant
How to plan and successfully deliver swimming lessons using an assistant in the water.
The workshops will become part of the agenda for our popular Swim School Roadshows, which are free regional events hosted across the UK by Learn to Swim managers.
Ideal for swim schools, teachers and operators delivering the Learn to Swim Programme and school swimming, these half day roadshows are a great opportunity to get insights on recent developments in the Learn to Swim Programme and School Swimming and Water Safety Charter.
