About the Awarding Body

The ASA Awarding Body is an awarding body recognised and regulated by the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) to offer and certificate vocational qualifications.

We verify learners have been assessed fairly and accurately, confirm they have completed the necessary combination of units and certificate wholly completed qualifications achieved. We are continually developing our qualifications catalogue to ensure substantial and appropriate provisions of qualifications in the following disciplines:

  • Teaching Aquatics
  • Coaching Swimming
  • Water Polo
  • Diving
  • Synchronised Swimming.

Teachers and coaches are the lifeblood of the sport and the ASA are working hard to ensure that not only are existing teachers and coaches fully supported in their work, but also that the future coaching workforce is guided and encouraged to take the next step in their career and join us.

We are extremely proud to be at the forefront of sports education in the UK and the training and development of teachers and coaches will play a pivotal role in contributing to performances in the 2012 Olympics and beyond. As well taking a leading role in developing teachers and coaches to take a participant centred approach, our role as an Awarding Body means that we deliver coach education on a daily basis by developing, assessing, awarding and quality assuring all ASA qualifications.
