Teaching Using the ASA Learn to Swim Framework
The ASA Learn to Swim Framework, is the national syllabus produced by the ASA to assist and support the delivery of swimming lessons. We feel it’s the best way to teach children to swim.
The framework is already the most successful sports programme of its kind.
The syllabus is currently being implemented in over 1,000 swimming programmes nationwide as well as being adopted overseas.
You may find that parents are already aware of the framework because the ASA urges parents to look for the Programme when choosing lessons.
Why should I use the Programme?
The framework has been developed to use fun and games to take children from their first splash to full competence in the water through 10 stage.
It's underpinned throughout by Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles, with clear progression between each stage. It includes all aquatic disciplines, and incorporates Rookie Lifesaving in conjunction with the Royal Life-Saving Society.
The framework allows you as a teacher to deliver consistent lessons with the ability to add yourr own imagination and initiatives to the framework and come up with fun ways to reach the outcomes.
Implementing the framework
